In a nutshell, 50|Plano was formed in 2015 to capture the upscale and luxurious spirit of the massive developments going on within a 3 mile radius of 121 and Dallas Tollway – what we call the “50Plano Hot Zone.” As I, John the CEO, observed all the developments going on around me (I live right smack in the middle of all of this), my analytical mind started churning. I realized this is more than just a bunch of multi-billion dollar piles of brick and mortar and glass going up. When you have names like Warren Buffett, Ross Perot, Roger Staubach, Mark Cuban, Jerry Jones and others throwing this kind of money around in such a tiny area, something larger than buildings and shops and restaurants was brewing. A spirit of affluence, even luxury, is brewing, so a modern, social media magazine that aims to be trendy, capturing the pulse of what’s going on was needed :- ) That’s 50|Plano in a nutshell.
50 Plano is a social media representation of the luxury brand that is Plano, Texas, one of the most consistently affluent cities in America. It’s more than a lifestyle. It’s a language that communicates where Plano is…and where it wants to be. The spirit of Plano is not an attitude, nor is it bounded geographically, but is now worldwide.

The Colony
From municipal services to leisure activities, business and play, it’s all here! We are a vibrant community that embraces economic growth, as evidenced by our landing of the largest home furnishings retail and warehouse development in the nation: Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas. The store opened in the spring of 2015, bringing thousands of jobs to the city. As anchor of the 433-acre Grandscape development in the 121 Corridor, NFM is expected to attract between 6-8 million visitors a year. Also already open is one of the region’s premier new attractions, Topgolf-The Colony, with more lodging, dining, and entertainment destinations soon to follow.
Amid all the new economic development, The Colony is still a community that values the things that have always made this city a great place to live – neighbors helping neighbors, residents volunteering their time and energy for community activities, and quiet, tree-lined streets. The Colony features miles of trails and green space, offering all kinds of outdoor recreation which have earned The Colony designations as both a Tree City USA and a Playful City USA.
The shoreline of Lewisville Lake may be our backyard but all the advantages of the big city are nearby. We are conveniently located just 35 minutes from downtown Dallas and only 25 minutes from DFW International Airport.
The Colony continues to evolve and grow, and we invite you to come be a part of it. You’ll feel right at home!
