Will Tulum, Mexico Airport compete with Cancun Airport?

Fall Biking in Portugal

$14k Luxury Goods on a Low Budget Airline?

If you’ve been waiting for the highly anticipated opening of the Tulum, Mexico, International Airport, you’ll have to wait a little longer. When I was down there the summer of 2022, I was informed by locals in Tulum that the government finally paved the way for the airport to be possibly be completed by Summer 2023. I was certainly happy to hear that because, as travelers to Mexico know, the 2 hour drive from Cancun Airport to Tulum can be exhausting. But alas, as of September 2023, the airport is about 65% complete. Based on my estimate, we’re looking at late Spring or early Summer 2024. Hopefully it’ll be ready by Memorial Day weekend, ahead of hurricane season.

If you’re a fan of biking, Thrillist.com is recommending traveling to Portugal this Fall, as the autumn bike rides are breathtaking. Portugal boasts diverse landscapes, from coastal regions to rolling hills and valleys full of lush vineyards. Biking through these areas allows you to witness the vibrant transformation of foliage as leaves change color. And of course, the Fall weather is mild and quite comfortable. Biking trails have some tasty culinary stops along the way, with local cafes and restaurants ready with highly rated local traditional dishes. Your biking journey will also be filled with stunning coastal views, charming villages, and eye popping mountains.

Thrillist recommends checking out Portugal’s Silver Coast. PortgulaHomes.com describes this exceptional area as “…a spectacular stretch of coastal ancient towns, breathtaking beaches, and rugged coastline, hugging the Atlantic Ocean, on Portugal’s western side. By many expats, this is one of the most desirable places to live in Portugal, together with Lisbon and Algarve.”

Traveling to London this Fall from Dallas? The Peninsula, located at London’s prestigious Hyde Park Corner, is a culmination of three decades of meticulous planning and design. It proudly debuted earlier this month as the United Kingdom’s first billion-pound luxury establishment (yes, you read that correctly). The esteemed hotels connoisseur, Susan d’Arcy, was among the very first to experience its opulence. Even if the £1,300-per-night price point falls outside your budget, you can still savor the exquisite atmosphere by indulging in a drink at the lobby bar, while enjoying some premier people-watching.

For those seeking another high-end London experience this season, the much-anticipated Raffles at the OWO will open its doors on September 29. However, if you prefer to be mindful of your expenses, lol, rest assured that they’ve curated a selection of the finest affordable accommodations, all available for under £200 per night. Ou can check out their website for more exquisite information.

Apparently, despite what you might think about the low budget nature of Spirit Airlines, one of its passengers has high end tastes. This mystery passenger had the audacity to not only bring $14,000 worth of luxury goods, but to check that bag in lol. Well you know what happened next. The bag came up missing. Ummm, no offense to the growing budget airline, but it should be a crime to bring that amount of luxury goods on a super economy airline lol. Is you crazy? If you can’t book a first class flight on the big airlines, with the necessary property and travel insurance, then it’s hard to be sympathetic when this happens.

Finally, one of my favorite hotel brands, Hyatt, is expanding to take on the short term home vacation rental market. According to The Points Guy online travel site:

“Hyatt announced plans to roll out Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt in the coming weeks, focusing on leading leisure destinations in the U.S. to start. Residences on the platform will range from apartments, townhouses and penthouses all the way up to ski chalets and villas. The brand follows in the footsteps of Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, Accor’s Onefinestay and Mandarin Oriental Exclusive Homes in terms of hotel operators tiptoeing into the vacation rental business.

The site goes on to say this is a win for Hyatt loyalty members, as we can earn and redeem World of Hyatt points at these vacation homes, and even collect the usual points bonus based on elite status. Links below for his website.

That’s it for now. Whether you’re flying, sailing, driving or biking this Fall, we’ve got you covered for relaxing and upscale travel planning. See you in the next video.
